What This Is
Lightfield Farm is a Private Membership Association — a community of families producing and sharing food the body recognizes, on land we steward together.
Not a store. Not a CSA. Not a co-op. Everything here happens privately, among members — which is what lets us keep it personal, and do things the way we believe they should be done.
Why It Works This Way
We went private because the relationships matter to us. Our members know the animals and see exactly how everything is handled — how their food lived, and what food their food ate.
It's built on trust — and trust is built in person.
What Members Are Part Of
Real food you can verify yourself. Members share in the farm's milk, cheese, butter, cream, yogurt, eggs, poultry, pork, and lamb — all raised and produced right here. You see everything, from start to finish.
A genuine community. Great people helping each other out, sharing skills and resources. Because food and friends go hand in hand.
Transparency you can touch. We share our protocols. Members stay informed. Ask us anything.
Programs & Experiences
Knowledge should be shared. This isn't a classroom — it's a neighbor showing you how they do something, then handing you the tools to try it yourself.
Cheese Apprenticeship
A one-month minimum farmstay. We teach you the entire cheese making process — from caring for the animals to finished, ripened cheese — in exchange for your help with daily farm chores.

We're on the WWOOF network. Room and board in exchange for farm work — milking, animal care, cheese making, whatever the season demands. Limited spots, by application only.

Sometimes you just need to get out of the city. Comfortable accommodations, beautiful countryside — forest, pasture, big sky, and no rush. You don't need to be interested in farming. Just interested in quiet.

Can I buy your milk, cheese, eggs, or meat?
Membership is not a way to buy anything. We're a private membership association: members share in what the farm produces, and none of it is for sale. Pork and lamb are a separate matter — those we sell at the farm gate, to anyone, with no membership involved. If that distinction matters to you the way it matters to us, reach out.
What is a private membership association?
A community that operates privately, among its own members, rather than offering goods or services to the public. Members join by agreement, share in what the association produces, and take responsibility for their own choices. It's an old idea — people organizing their own affairs, together.
How do I become a member?
It starts with a conversation. Reach out, tell us about yourself, and we'll go from there. We keep the process personal — no forms to race through, no automatic approvals.
Where are you?
Athabasca County, Alberta — about an hour north of Edmonton, on a quarter section of pasture, hayfield, and forest backing onto crown land.
Can I visit?
By arrangement, yes. Farm stays, WWOOF placements, and the cheese making apprenticeship all bring people to the land. Visits happen the way everything here happens — through a relationship. The Stay page is where the conversation starts — nothing is confirmed until we've talked.
