Stay
One small house, a quarter section of quiet.
The Tiny House
Most getaways are just a different kind of busy. This one isn't.
The tiny house sits on our quarter section in Athabasca County, about an hour north of Edmonton, where the pasture runs into forest and the forest runs into crown land. It's small, warm, and well built — a real house, just distilled. From the door you can watch the cows work through their morning and the light work through its evening.
Inside, the layout tells you what we think matters: a big kitchen — most of the house, honestly — a small bathroom, and a half-height sleeping loft above. Simple, warm, and enough.
You can come two ways: as a simple retreat, or as a stay wrapped around learning.
Just the Stay
Come for the quiet. Walk the fields, sit by the pond, sleep properly for once. Nobody will hand you a chore list — though if you'd like to be in the barn for morning milking, you only have to ask. The farm goes about its day around you; you're welcome in as much or as little of it as you like.
Stay & Learn
If your idea of rest includes your hands, pair your stay with time alongside us. These aren't demonstrations — they're real work at family scale, taught the way we learned it: by doing.
- Cheese making. Soft or hard cheese from our own milk, the way farmstead cheese has always been made — culture, curd, press, and the patience in between.
- Home dairy. Milking, cream, butter, yogurt: what it actually takes to keep a family cow, from both ends of the day.
- Farm skills. Rotational grazing, pastured poultry, whatever the season is asking of us that week.
Tell us what draws you when you send your request, and we'll shape the days around it.
Good to Know
Where
Athabasca County, Alberta — about an hour north of Edmonton. We'll send directions once your stay is set.
Who
Coming as a pair, a family, or on your own — tell us who's coming and we'll tell you honestly whether the space suits.
The private part
Lightfield is a private membership association, so a stay here isn't a public rental — it happens within our member community. That's simpler than it sounds: send your request, and we'll walk you through it when we reply.
The practical details
You'll see what's open on the calendar and pick your dates — but there's no checkout and no payment page. A request starts a conversation, and dates are confirmed person to person.
Request a Stay
The calendar shows what's open. Pick your dates, tell us what you're hoping for, and send the request — a real person reads every one and replies directly.
The quiet keeps. Come when you're ready.
